Trauma-Responsive Learning Center (TRLC) is a training and consulting program of AB mental Health, LLC, created to support schools, organizations, and leaders in building environments that better understand human behavior, mental health, and the impact of stress and adversity.

Across education, workplaces, healthcare settings, nonprofits, and community systems, people are expected to learn, work, and perform while navigating complex life experiences that often lack adequate support. TRLC exists to help organizations respond to those realities with clarity, compassion, and effective practice.

Why "Trauma-Responsive"?

Trauma-Responsive work builds on trauma-informed knowledge and moves it into practice, systems, and daily response.

Being trauma-informed is foundational and involves understanding how trauma and chronic stress can impact learning, behavior, relationships, and well-being. Trauma-responsive work takes that understanding a step further by helping individuals, teams, and systems respond differently in real time.

At TRLC, we focus on:

  • how environments, leadership, and policies shape behavior

  • how stress and the nervous system influence performance and connection

  • how organizations can reduce harm while increasing regulation, safety, and effectiveness

Trauma-responsive approaches are not about lowering expectations or assuming pathology. They are about creating conditions where people can meet expectations, engage more fully, and thrive.

About the Founder

Trauma-Responsive Learning Center was founded by Adam Brostowitz, M.S., LPC-IT, a trainer, consultant, and therapist with experience across education, nonprofit leadership, advocacy, and mental health services.

Adam holds a Master's degree in Educational Psychology and a Graduate Certificate in Trauma-Informed Care. His professional background includes work in school systems, domestic violence advocacy, nonprofit leadership, and clinical mental health settings. He has developed and delivered trainings on trauma-informed care, trauma-responsive systems, domestic violence, mental health awareness, and supportive leadership for schools, organizations, and business.

His work is guided by the belief that meaningful change happens when people are given both understanding and practical tools, as well as when systems are designed to support human needs rather than work against them.

Our Commitment

Trauma-Responsive Learning Center partners with organizations that want to do better for the people they serve and support. We believe trauma-responsive environments help individuals feel safer, more engaged, and more capable, which help organizations function more effectively as a whole.
